Command line support is sometimes referred to as CLI or Command Line Interface support and is another feature of an application packaging solution that is likely either very interesting to a user or it is not interesting at all. If you are handy with scripting, you may still not see the immediate benefit of being able to manipulate your packages from the command line. As such, the sis not a feature that is in high demand, so it does not get a lot of attention. However, if you were so inclined, you could automate a process to check your packages, to inject something into your package (branding perhaps), or even to inspect and remove certain items– or to at least alert you. In the right hands, this is one of those capabilities with endless possibilities. Then, other vendors may provide a way to do these very same things without the need to script, so rank this on your feature priority list accordingly.
This is one of many application packaging features covered here at AppDetails. When considering what features are important to you, we recommend you also contemplate the importance of a good GUI Editor, PowerShell Support, an MSI to App-V Converter, and other application packaging features.
