For Windows Installer (MSI) setups, installation conditions are a built-in capability. However, repackaging solutions can expose just how you go about specifying and enforcing installation conditions in their own ways. As an administrator, it is probably best to handle dependencies as conditions of an application’s deployment versus that of its installation. That said, many find it a good practice to include conditions in their MSI packages anyway as a fail-safe mechanism to prevent installation on systems that do not meet defined criteria.
This is one of many application packaging features covered here at AppDetails. When considering what features are important to you, we recommend you also contemplate the importance of a good GUI Editor, PowerShell Support, an MSI to App-V Converter, and other application packaging features.
