Remote Wipe/Lock

One of the most standard features one can get as part of an EMM solution is Remote Wipe/Lock. This is considered to be a feature of mobile device management (MDM). This feature provides the ability to remotely wipe (delete) all the data on a device should a user lose their phone or if they leave the company. Some EMM solutions cannot distinguish between corporate data and personal data. In those cases, wiping the device means deleting everything and not just business related applications and data. Keep this in mind when evaluating an EMM solution as using remote wipe/lock to delete a user’s family pictures, personal emails, texts and contacts can introduce as many issues as it solves. See BYOD.

This is one of many enterprise mobility management (EMM) features covered here at AppDetails. When considering what features are important to you, we recommend you also contemplate the importance BYOD, MDM, MAM and UEM capabilities along with other common mobile management features.
