Application Deployment (or Application Distribution) is synonymous with Systems Management. At it’s most simplistic, it is really about running a specified command line (one that happens to install software) across multiple targeted systems. How it can be targeted, scheduled, grouped can vary significantly. Same goes for how it reports back success and failure, and how it allows for ordering of tasks, as well as pre and post execution tasks.
While it is a staple of any systems management solution, there are few cases where it is the only feature on which a product focuses.
All known application deployment products are listed right here. For those that also have an AppDetails overview available, you’ll find a link to it at the bottom of the vendor provided description.
This is one aspect of application, device and user management covered here. See the entire list of product areas we have covered in the Every Product Project.
