Chrome and bundled Flash (PepperFlash)

Since Chrome version 54, PepperFlash does not come bundled with Chrome. I think this is due to the wider push for HTML5 and Google plan to drop support for Flash. This is not an issue if Chrome has access to the internet as it will download PepperFlash to the users LocalAppData (AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\PepperFlash), but if you are in a secure network with no internet access, you will not be able to to obtain the required files.

To work around this issue, start chrome and visit a webpage that requires Flash, this should force a download of PepperFlash to the LocalAppData above. Copy the files to a safe place.

Next create your Transform and add the files (manifest.json, pepflashplayer.dll) to the installation directory of Chrome, see below.

C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\54.0.whatever.0\PepperFlash.

Test that Chrome has picked up the assets by starting Chrome and visiting the URL chrome://components/. You should see Adobe Flash Payer and a version assigned.

Done.
